Are you considering a web site for your business or organization? Are you happy with the site you currently have?
Web sites are no longer a 'nice to have, cool toy'; they are an essential platform for promoting your business or organization.
YOU must be happy and comfortable with your site - not with whatever template that gets thrust upon you.
Whether you currently don't have a site or are unhappy with the one you currently have (or how it is being managed), the site design and how it is maintained are essential to you being happy with your online presence.
If you are looking to set up or redesign an exisiting site for your organization or small business - start here. At the very least you will get an honest opinion.
Do you need a relatively simple, static online 'brochure' to establish a findable presence or do you need something more elaborate?
Do you need a dynamic site that allows you to ad content, users to search it, etc? Using the Drupal CMS can get you there.
Content Management Systems (CMS's) allow site owners a way to manage their own day to day content with many powerful plug ins.
Drupal is an excellent system that is free to use - this will be reflected in your fee.

To be up front - I am not a professional programmer or designer. I am a career firefighter. Like many career firefighters, I have a sideline and this is it.
After a lifelong interest in taking quality photographs, I stumbled into web site design in an effort to display my prints on this 'new thing' called the internet. I purchased my first computer in 2000 with my tax return and bought a copy of a basic web editor; I've been hooked ever since.
After reading and experimenting with any web design materials I could get my hands on I became proficient in HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Illustrator. Then I went to work for a Kingston based software and web company serving, primarily, the funeral industry where I implemented almost 400 sites into a proprietary content management system. Additionally, I processed approximatley 1000 product images into as many as 5 layers each to be displayed in an online catalogue of funeral products.
Most currently I have begun using the Drupal content management system to create sites.
For a more detailed look at my background, please review my CV.
Individual attention. I am not part of a 'web site machine' that passes you from one cog to another. You deal with me and me alone.
Comprehensive research. Through a detailed series of questions, you and I together determine your needs for a web presence.
Custom design. You determine the look of your site. I will help you develop a look or work with the graphic designer of your choice to turn a design into a site.
Simple is best. I strive to keep everything about your site simple for you to use, simple for your message to come across and simple for your site visitors to use.
Thorough development. Your page will be hand coded and tested in different browsers to esnure a consistent look from page to page and browser to browser.
Training. As a web site owner it is up to you to understand some of the fundamentals of youe site and how it works. I teach you what you need to know and provide you with resources to refer to. Much of the frustration that can come with owning a site comes, in my experience, from not understanding how you site can work for you, how to use it and what expectations may be working against you and your site.
Launch. Your site gets published only when both you and it are ready.
Support. Your site will be maintained in the manner you determine. If you choose to self-maintain your site or pay for regular updates, I will be available to assist.
Web sites can be set up almost overnight; fast, cheap and dirty. And resultantly dissappointing.
Or you can have a more thoughtfully planned and designed site that is expandable and scalable to your future needs.
Carefully establishing a site incorporating branding and marketing can be a longer process with dozens of steps and decisions.
After an inital meeting and comprehensive question and answer session (plan on an entire morning or afternoon), a plan can be put together to suit your timeline and budget.
A quality, well thought out site can take several weeks or months to develop, test and refine. Patience is a big part of the process.
If you hire me, you hire me.
Your project will not be staffed out or subcontracted.
With a flexible schedule, I can meet you at your convenience and at your office.
Unlike at least one other company out there - I am NOT trying to 'make as much money off you' as I possibly can.
Asking how much a web site costs is like asking what a car costs; it all depends on what you want.
Maintaining your site, again like a car, can be done at home if you know what to do and (more importantly) what not to. You can, with effort and time do things yourself or spend a little more to have someone else get their hands dirty.
With a comprehensive process that will determine your needs, we can decide exactly what is best, and most affordable, for you.
