it's all about me...

Me

I'm niether a professional, formally trained photographer or web designer. I am a professional firefighter and a hard core auto didact.

But I am pretty good at photography and wed design.

I did my Physical Education degree at the University of Ottawa. I couldn't teach a gym class if you put a gun to my head; I could speak for hours about physiology and biomechanics. I then earned a diploma in Athletic Therapy and was so sick of sport sciences by then I wandered off that path. Then I earned an emergency medical care attendant diploma; now we call it a paramedic. I did that so it would look good on a resume for a fire department. I have now been a professional firefighter for almost 15 years. it's the best job in the world.

I was into the whole rock climbing/ice climbing/white water kayaking thing for a long time. Then I fell 50 feet and shattered my right ankle and tibia. that is when I decided to try and take up something more conducive to growing old as opposed to dying young; photography. I learned how to take, develop, print and frame all my own photographs in both black and white and colour.

As the web began to grow I decided to make a web site for sowing my photographs. I didn't even own a computer. So I got a computer. To this point I have taught myself no less than 5 computer languages and enough of a few others to be more useful than the average bear. I am also proficient in raw coding and enough Adobe stuff to do quite a bit. I've worked 2 years with a software company helping design, code and implement e-commerce web sites. The owner was into me for almost $5,000 and hated to pay on time. I said 'enough'! Now I am giving it a try on my own.

If you need a basic web site for a small to medium organization; I might just be the person you are looking for. I am sort of a one stop shop for the look and function of a web site.

I am currently working on my own framework using XHTML, CSS, Javascript/jQuery, Drupal and a few other apps & languages.

I'm a dragon, a scorpio, a middle child and left handed - a quadruple threat! I also have 2 dogs, 1 cat and an old house in the country. Life is good.
